Celia Cruz was born in Cuba and died in New Jersey.
She was denied a visa several times to the United States, but eventually was granted one in 1957
"Quimbara" (by Puerto Rican, Junior Cepeda) was her biggest hit and immediately transformed her into the Queen of Salsa
